How to use GST Interest & Late Fee Calculator
Explore supported cash-ledger interest and return late-fee scenarios.
Inputs and definitions
Return and period, verified due date, payment date, tax-head liabilities and applicable cash-ledger/payment history.
Method and formula
Determine the supported interest base and day count, then apply the annual rate on a daily basis. Late fees are a separate calculation with their own conditions and caps.
Illustrative example
An illustrative ₹10,000 interest base for ten days at a confirmed 18% annual rate gives about ₹49.32 using 365 days. Cash-ledger adjustments can change the eligible base.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you use the result.
Are interest and late fee the same charge?
No. Interest relates to a prescribed tax/payment base and time period. Late fee relates to delayed return filing and has separate daily amounts, caps and possible relief conditions.
Why does the cash ledger matter?
The legally relevant cash balance and deposit/payment dates can affect supported interest treatment. Enter the actual dated facts; a later deposit is not assumed to have been available earlier.
Can I rely on a normal due date after an extension?
No. Confirm the applicable notified due date and any class-, period- or location-specific relief. The tool’s coverage and supplied date do not establish every exceptional extension.
