How to use GST Rate, HSN/SAC & GST Calculator

Search HSN/SAC classifications, verify the rate, then add or remove GST.

Inputs and definitions

Goods/services description, classification facts, supply date, value, inclusive/exclusive pricing, place of supply and conditions.

Method and formula

Resolve a supported classification and dated rate before applying tax. Exclusive tax = taxable value × rate; inclusive taxable value = gross value ÷ (1 + rate).

Illustrative example

For a confirmed illustrative 18% rate, ₹1,000 exclusive value gives ₹180 tax and ₹1,180 total. An intra-state ordinary split is ₹90 CGST plus ₹90 SGST; verify the supply conditions.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you use the result.

Can a description alone confirm my GST rate?

No. A search match is a classification lead. Product or service facts, tariff scope, supply date, conditions and notifications must support the final classification and rate. Review the source and coverage shown with the result.

Why is tax different for inclusive and exclusive prices?

An exclusive price adds tax to the taxable value. An inclusive price already contains tax, so the taxable base is extracted by dividing by one plus the applicable rate. Applying the rate directly to the inclusive total overstates tax.

When do I use IGST instead of CGST and SGST?

The supply route depends on the supplier location, place-of-supply rules and relevant statutory provisions. A customer address alone does not settle every case. Confirm the supply route before calculating.
