UNDERSTAND THE CALCULATION
How to use GST Refund Calculator
Distinguish LUT, SEZ, paid-IGST and excess-cash refund routes.
Inputs and definitions
Refund route, period, turnover/value components, verified eligible credit or cash balance and route-specific evidence.
Method and formula
Use the selected statutory route and its supported formula or ledger limit. Compare the calculation with relevant eligibility, exclusions and any manual-review flags.
Illustrative example
An excess-cash refund starts from the verified available electronic cash balance and the amount requested; an accumulated-ITC refund uses different inputs and conditions.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Before you use the result.
Is the maximum calculated amount an approved refund?
No. A formula or ledger ceiling does not confirm eligibility or sanction. Documentary conditions, exclusions, time limits, adjustments and officer processing can affect the actual claim.
Why are excess cash and accumulated ITC separate routes?
They have different legal bases and calculations. An electronic cash-ledger balance is not the same as accumulated input credit, and one route’s formula cannot be substituted for the other.
Can I mix turnover or credit from different periods?
Use the period and definitions required by the selected refund route. Mixing reporting periods or using ineligible credit can materially overstate the formula result.
